The future of CTE will evolve from the research and development efforts being performed today. Identifying a research agenda and implementing the necessary research activities to carry out this agenda are critical for the continuous development of CTE programs that meet the needs of students, industry and society. ACTE in collaboration with ACTER created a national research agenda with the input and support of researchers, business leaders and practitioners to help ensure that future CTE scholarly research will be focused in the areas most useful to practitioners, policymakers and researchers.

The research found on this Web page has been categorized first into five broad research problem areas and then into 15 research objectives identified in the national CTE research agenda. Simply click on a reseach objective to access research ACTE has compiled on that subject.

Instructional Strategies Professional Preparation Leadership and Organizational Development Academic Infusion/Integration Curricula Designs Future CTE Content Best Practices Integration of Technology Transition to Postsecondary Education Assessment Economic Impact of CTE Quality of Teachers Faculty and Staff Development Policy Development Relevance of Workforce Standards
