The Association for Career and Technical Education of Nebraska awards program seeks to promote excellence in career and technical education by recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the field, programs that exemplify the highest standards and organizations that have conducted activities to promote and expand career and technical education programs.
There are 7 categories of ACTEN awards:
All awards are administered by the ACTEN Awards Committee. The committee, chaired by the ACTEN Past President, is responsible for recommending awards to the ACTEN Board of Directors, setting criteria for awards, reviewing applications and recommending award recipients to the ACTEN Board.
Nominations will not be accepted by the Committee for any of the awards after . Awards will be judged and awarded from the nominations received prior to that date. Nominations submitted for an award and not meeting the criteria set forward in this brochure will not be judged. All 2008 awards will be presented in June 2008 during the NCE Conference in Kearney, Nebraska.
* The Career Education Foundation of Nebraska will further recognize the Teacher of the Year and the New Career and Technical Teacher by providing a $500 scholarship in the teacher’s name for a student from their school who plans to continue their education at a postsecondary institution in the state of Nebraska, majoring in one of the career and technical education areas. A $500 grant will be given to the New Career and Technical Teacher’s school for the recognized teacher to upgrade their program.
Those selected for Teacher of the Year, Outstanding New CTE Teacher, Outstanding CTE Educator and Teacher in Community Service will be eligible to compete in the ACTE Region V Competition in 2009. The Outstanding Service recipient is eligible to compete in the ACTE awards competition in 2009, bypassing the regional competition.
Detailed information about the ACTEN Awards Program for 2008, application procedures and appropriate forms are contained in this booklet. Please pay careful attention to the information concerning criteria, eligibility and application procedures for each award. This is very important. If you have any questions, contact Awards Committee Chair Ila Arrants, or contact the ACTEN office.
All award nominees must submit materials as outlined. Nomination packets or dossiers that do not follow the rules listed will be rejected and returned. Note: Typed material in application packets must have margins of 3/4” left, right, top and bottom. Violating these standards in attempts to include more words on the printed page will jeopardize the acceptability of the application packet.
