Legislative Committee – FY08 Appointment and Objectives

The goal of the Legislative Committee is to undertake activities that position ACTE as the voice of career and technical education professionals and advocate for programs and funding that lead to a productive workforce.

The specific objectives for the Committee this year are:

  1. Review the purpose/focus of the committee and make any necessary changes.

  2. Provides input and feedback to the ACTE Public Policy staff on issues related to education and workforce development reform.  Provide recommendations on ACTE activities on these issues.

  3. Continue to monitor and provide input on federal legislation relevant to CTE and the appropriations process.

  4. Provide recommendations and feedback to the ACTE Public Policy staff on effective avenues for communicating to the membership the value of ACTE’s activities in the legislative process.

  5. Provide feedback, suggestions and ideas on key issues (beyond legislation) and assist the Public Policy staff with the development of policy papers on these issues.  Board of Directors review and approval is required for all position papers prior to publication.
