Awards Committee – FY08 Appointment and Objectives

The Committee's objective is to recognize excellence and innovation in the career and technical education field. Specifically, the Committee is responsible for soliciting and reviewing nominations and determining the recipients for the Teacher of the Year Award, Outstanding Career and Technical Educator of the Year Award, Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher Award, Outstanding Teacher in Community Service Award, Carl Perkins Humanitarian Award, Arch of Fame Award, Award of Merit, Outstanding Service Award, and Image Award.

Specific objectives for this year are:

  1. Provide feedback, suggestions and ideas on ways to promote the value of the ACTE Awards using a variety of tools including ACTE publications, the ACTE web site, media relations, public appearances and speeches.  Ideas for incorporating state association activities should also be considered.

  2. Review the current criteria and selection process of each award and determine if any changes are necessary. Special focus is to be given to the amount of paperwork required to be submitted by nominees with an end goal of reducing the time required for submissions.  Efforts to enhance the coordination with ACTE State Associations and Regions should be undertaken. All changes should be reported to the Board of Directors.
