Mission Statement of the Agricultural Education Division
The Agricultural Education Division of ACTE provides support and information to personnel working with students in Career and Technical Education to provide leadership in developing a competitive workforce.
Dear ACTE Agricultural Education Division New Member:
Welcome to the Agricultural Education Division. You will find we are a wonderful group of dedicated supporters and leaders for Agricultural Education career and technical education.
Each year our division will continue to be an active force in the promotion of Agricultural Education. Together we can provide leadership and meet the challenges that define our purpose.
As educators working with Agricultural Education population students enrolled in career and technical education programs, please keep the division President informed of any new and exciting developments in your areas of expertise. The division President will pass on this information through the website as well as other networking tracks.
The ACTE annual convention is always one of our most exciting events. We have outstanding sessions lined up for our division and many networking opportunities.

If you don?t find the answers there, policy committee member?s names and their contact information are listed. You may contact any of us, if we don?t know the information we will find out.
As a member of ACTE?s Agricultural Education Division, you have the opportunity to be an active participant in the enhancement of Career and Technical education.
General Purpose of the Division
The ACTE Agricultural Education Division's membership base is made up of agriculture teachers (elementary, secondary, post-secondary, adult), state agricultural education leaders and university agricultural educators. Originating with the Smith-Hughes Act of 1917, this division's mission is to prepare students for successful careers and a lifetime of choices in the global agriculture and natural resources systems.
The national goals of the division are:
- Highly motivated, well-educated teachers provide quality education for students at all levels, pre-kindergarten through adult.
- All students have access to seamless, lifelong instruction in agriculture and national resources through a wide variety of delivery methods and educational settings.
- All students achieve conversational literacy of agriculture and national resources.
- Partnerships and strategic alliances ensure a continuous presence of education in and about agriculture and natural resources.
This mission and those goals are supported by 11 cooperating organizations that work in unison to further the course of agricultural education. They are:

Getting Involved in the Division
The following are descriptions of the committees in which you may become involved. Please contact the committee chairs, who are listed on the website, for more information and how you can join.
ACTE Agricultural Education Division
Committee Descriptions
BYLAWS COMMITTEE The purpose of this committee is to review division operating policies and keep them in line with ACTE by-laws; propose operating policy changes; and make recommendations to the Policy Committee and members attending the annual business meeting.
DIVERSITY COMMITTEE The Diversity Action Committee identifies concerns that ACTE and AgEd should address as they relate to all minorities; reviews the ongoing activities of the divisions, regions, state associations and committees to strengthen minority participation; and promotes ACTE and AgEd to minority persons in career and technical education.
EDITORIAL & PUBLICATIONS COMMITTEE This committee advises staff on the development and production of publications including editorial content, authors, marketing, advertising, budget considerations and evaluation of the total publications effort.
LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE The ACTE Legislative Committee advises the Board of Directors on legislative issues; develops an effective legislative network; and coordinates field responses on key issues to the Board of Directors. The Division committee ensures that the interests of Agricultural Education Division members and the students we serve are represented.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE The chair is a member of the ACTE Membership Committee. This committee advises staff on the development and progress of membership. The committee recommends promotional activities to improve representation of Agricultural Education Division members in ACTE.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE Each Division is represented on this ACTE committee which serves as a search and screening committee for potential candidates for the office of ACTE President-Elect. At the Division level, the search and screening is for the office of Division Vice-President Elect. The chair is also is our representative.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE This committee is the planning committee for the ACTE annual convention. They meet on the Saturday prior to the National Policy Seminar in Washington D.C.
PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE The chair of this committee represents the Division on the ACTE Committee. This committee is charged with the task of recommending activities and promotions to improve the image of ACTE, career and technical education and especially the Agricultural Education Division.
RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE This committee receives, reviews and edits resolutions to be considered by the Assembly of Delegates. At the Division level, this committee has the task of reviewing resolutions the Division would like to take before the division membership or the ACTE Assembly of Delegates.
