ACTE Announces National Award Winners for 2007-2008

The ACTE Excellence Awards seeks to promote excellence in career and technical education by recognizing individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the field, programs that exemplify the highest standards, and organizations that have conducted activities to promote and expand career and technical education programs.

All awards, except Policymaker of the Year, ACTE/NIOSH School Lab Safety Award, and Programs and Practices that Work: Preparing Students for Nontraditional Careers Award are administered by the Association’s Awards Committee. The Committee, which is made up of one representative from each of ACTE’s five regions and a chair, is responsible for recommending awards programs to the Association’s Board of Directors, setting criteria for awards, reviewing applications, recommending award recipients to the Board and overseeing all aspects of the recognition program for award winners.
All 2008 awards, except Policymaker of the Year and the ACTE/NIOSH School Lab Safety Award will be presented at the Association’s Annual Convention, December 4-6, 2008, in Charlotte, NC.
The Policymaker of the Year, ACTE/NIOSH School Lab Safety, and Practices that Work: Preparing Students for Nontraditional Careers awards are announced or presented each March at the National Policy Seminar in Washington, D.C.
Detailed information about the National Awards Program for 2008 including application procedures are contained in the booklet. Please pay careful attention to the information concerning criteria, eligibility and application procedures for each award. This is very important. If you have any questions, contact the Awards Committee Liaison at ACTE Headquarters for assistance.
All national award nominees must submit materials as outlined. Nomination packets or dossiers that do not follow the rules listed will be rejected and returned. All applications should be submitted electronically.

– Interviews for regional Teacher of the Year nominees with ACTE Awards Committee. Awards presentation rehearsal for nominees for ACTE Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Career and Technical Educator, Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher and Outstanding Teacher in Community Service. Winners of the Award of Merit, Outstanding Service Award, Carl Perkins Humanitarian Award, and Arch of Fame are included.
– Awards presentation at General Session for ACTE Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Career and Technical Educator, Outstanding New Career and Technical Teacher, Outstanding Teacher in Community Service, Award of Merit, Outstanding Service Award, Carl Perkins Humanitarian Award, and Arch of Fame.
